Dear Colleagues, Dear Friends,
Spine is an important (if not the most important) part of our daily work as Neurosurgeons even in remote areas of the world. There has been a tremendous improvement in recent years of surgical techniques together with the use of the new available medical devices. The key questions are: can we combine these new instruments with thoughtful surgical indication? Can we perform our surgeries in countries with limited facilities? The production of evidence-based guidelines has encountered some difficulties: evidence based is almost entirely generated in the Western World and it is difficult very often to perform randomized clinical studies about the clinical use of new devices. The Spine Committee of the World Federation of Neurosurgical Societies (WFNS) has been very active in recent years organizing a series of Consensus Conferences on different spine topics (like for instance cervical and spine stenosis). These conferences are a combination of evidence based and experts’ based suggestions and the advantage is that most parts of the world are represented.
We need now a forum where to discuss the Science, Technology and Human contribution to Spine Surgery.
Italy has a long-lasting history of collaboration in Management of Spine Patients between different medical disciplines: Neurosurgery, Orthopedic Surgery, Neurophysiology, Anesthesiology, Oncology, etc. In Milano there are some of the most prestigious Neurosurgical and Orthopedic Centers for Spine Patients’ management. Moreover Milano is one of the fastest growing European City where you can find both the historical monuments (like the Duomo or the last Supper by Leonardo da Vinci) and the brand new City Life district.
The Spine Committee of the WFNS and the Humanitas University are proud to invite all of you to the 6th Biennial Meeting in June 2020.
Please enjoy our Scientific Comprehensive Program and the Italian Hospitality.
