INTRODUCTION
It is my great pleasure to invite you to a course in microsurgical treatment of neurovascular lesions that will be held in Wroclaw, Poland. Microsurgery of vessels of the central nervous system is one of the most sophisticated and technically demanding parts of neurosurgery. It necessitates knowledge, experience and continuous practice to provide a treatment with the finest results. It is very important that the day to day training and practice are guided and supported by the knowledge from most experienced vascular neurosurgeons.
During this course the participants will be guided by prof. Rokuya Tanikawa, the Director of the Department of Neurosurgery, Stroke Center, Sapporo Teishinkai Hospital, Sapporo. The course is designed to address surgical anatomy, cranial approaches, treatment strategies and clinics in microsurgical treatment of brain aneurysm and by-pass surgery. Participants will have the opportunity to take part in dedicated workshops aimed at bypass surgery for brain lesions with lectures and a guided hands on part. The following lectures will be run on techniques and pearls in microsurgical treatment of the brain aneurysm. The lectures will be followed by discussions on decisions making and clinical challenges found during treatment. The course is realised with live aneurysm surgery with case disscussion. This course is oriented on vascular neurosurgeons and neurosurgery fellows. The objective of the course is to familiarize participants with detailed aspects of microsurgical anatomy, pathology, techniques and clinics in aneurysm surgical treatment.
